Mr Georgios Vasilikostas
Clinical interests
Mr Vasilikostas has a personal experience in upper gastrointestinal, laparoscopic and bariatric surgery, including antireflux surgery, hernia repair, gallstone disease, intra-gastric balloon fitting, gastric banding, gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy.
He has developed a specialist interest in advance laparoscopic surgery, including laparoscopic oesophagogastrectomy and in revisional bariatric surgery for obese patients, including duodenal switch and bilio-pancreatic diversion.
Professional profile
Mr Vasilikostas trained at the University of Athens Medical School and at St Pierre Hospital, Brussels, earning a CST certificate in 2008. He then completed a fellowship in Advance Laparoscopic Surgery at the European School of Laparoscopic Surgery, Brussels.
He has been working at a consultant level in a both Belgium and the UK since 2009. He also has an academic background with peer-reviewed publications and has given many national and international lectures and presentations on bariatric surgery.
Mr Vasilikostas has experience in both clinical and laboratory based research leading to him being awarded a PhD in 2008 from the University of Athens.
