Dr Richard Lau
Clinical interests
Dr Lau specialises in the management of viral STIs, including HIV. His other main clinical interest is in genital dermatology.
Professional profile
Dr Lau qualified in 1983 at Guy's Hospital Medical School, having attained a BSc in 1980. He then undertook specialist training in genitourinary and HIV medicine at the Royal London Hospital, St Mary's Hospital and at St George's.
He has also conducted research into the natural history of HIV with the Wellcome Trust and the molecular biology of the Epstein-Barr virus in oral hairy leukoplakia with the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research.
Dr Lau was appointed a GU and HIV consultant at Bromley Hospitals NHS Trust from 1994-1997, and since 1997 has been a consultant at St George's Hospital.
