Professional profile
Dr Paula Fagan is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where she leads inpatient surgical gynaecological cancer care and provides comprehensive management for women with both malignant and benign gynaecological conditions. Her clinical practice includes cancer diagnostics, early-stage cancer surgery, colposcopy and vulval disease management.
Dr Fagan studied medicine at the University of Glasgow and completed postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology through the London Specialty School of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (North West Thames Deanery). To complement her clinical training, she undertook research fellowships in Surgical Gynaecological Oncology at The Royal Marsden Hospital, London, and in Cancer Epidemiology at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in Lyon, France.
Her research portfolio includes publications in leading journals such as the International Journal of Cancer and the International Journal of Gynaecological Cancer, focusing on ovarian cancer surgery, cancer epidemiology, and global trends in women’s cancers. She regularly presents her work at national and international conferences.
Dr Fagan is Co-Chair of the Royal Marsden Partners Gynaecological Cancer Pathway Group, which aims to improve access to diagnostics, optimise cancer pathways and standardise care across the West London Cancer Alliance.
She is passionate about medical education and mentorship, serving as an RCOG educational supervisor and clinical tutor for medical students. In recognition of her teaching, she received the Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award from Imperial College London.
