Dr Barbara Philips
Clinical interests
Dr Philips is a consultant in intensive care medicine at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. She has a clinical interest in intensive care medicine with a special interest in acute kidney injury, endocrine and metabolic disturbances, noise and patient perceptions and clinical ethics.
Professional profile
Dr Philips trained at King's College Hospital Medical School qualifying in 1988 and received an intercalated first class honours degree in nutrition and basic medical sciences from Queen Elizabeth College, University of London.
She trained at the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh, first in anaesthesia and then intensive care medicine before receiving her MD in cerebal haemodynamics and metabolism in fulminant hepatic failure from the University of London in 1999.
Dr Philips has a strong interest in education and is a senior lecturer and honorary consultant in intensive care medicine, with clinical commitments to the general intensive care unit as well as teaching and research commitments to St George's, University of London. She actively researches and publishes in her areas of interests and supervises postgraduate students for MD and PhD degrees.
