Asma Keshtgar
Clinical interests
Ms Keshtgar is a Consultant Orthodontist working at St. Georges University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Her specialist interests include Joint orthodontic surgical treatment, working closely with the Maxillofacial surgeons as well as the management of complex malocclusions requiring multi-disciplinary input.
Professional profile
Ms Keshtgar qualified as a dentist from Kings College London in 2014, attaining Bachelor of Dental Surgery with Honours and commendation for Professionalism.
Following a year of Dental Foundation Training in Northeast London, she undertook three years of Dental Core Training and Dental Officer posts across an array of dental specialties including Community Dental Services, Paediatric Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery within London. During this time, Ms Keshtgar was actively involved with quality improvement projects, and disseminated the findings through oral presentations internationally and multiple poster presentations nationally; she was awarded the ‘Best presentation award’ regionally within London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
She undertook postgraduate training in Orthodontics at Eastman Dental Hospital attaining Masters in Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics with Distinction and won the ‘UCL Nomination for Dean’s Research Prize’. She was awarded the ‘Houston Research Scholar award’ and ‘Top 10 research poster’ nationally by the British Orthodontic Society for her research project ‘Shared decision making in Orthodontics’.
Ms Keshtgar completed a further 2 years of training at St George’s University Hospital and Kings College Hospital treating a wide range of complex multidisciplinary cases. She has obtained a Postgraduate certificate in Clinical and Professional Education and is actively involved in the training of Orthodontic Specialty Registrars and Postgraduate Trainees within the region as a clinical supervisor and having organised courses.
