The gesh Carers Charter

At St George’s and Epsom and St Helier (gesh), we are committed to working in partnership with our community.

This means actively listening, acting on, and learning from the experience of our patients and carers. We asked carers what they want from the Trust, what is important to them, and what does good experience of care mean to a carer?

We held several listening events in March and April 2025 to reach as many carers as possible to develop a gesh Carers Charter. The purpose of this was to allow an opportunity for carers to define what they want their experience to look like, and to use this information to create a range of commitments that the Trust will aim to uphold.

The direct insights from carers were used to develop the charter which fell into four key areas.  We worked closely with carers, as well as system parters, to produce a charter which represents a pledge for the quality of experience we aim to offer carers across the communities we serve, as well as demonstrating the gold standard on co-designing with service users.
