Opening of the Charles Pumphrey Unit for cardiology elective admissions
We are pleased to announce that today marks the opening of a new cardiology elective admissions unit called the Charles Pumphrey Unit.
Many will remember Dr Pumphrey as a dedicated consultant cardiologist who served his patients at St George’s for more than 25 years. We’re delighted to have an opportunity to remember him through naming these new beds in his memory.
The new space brings a number of benefits to patients including:
- number of cardiology elective beds increased to seven
- shorter waiting time for access to our catheter labs
- larger bed bays in line with new standards
- a more modern environment including state of the art lighting and equipment.
The Charles Pumphrey Unit is located on the third floor of Atkinson Morley wing. The space was previously the cardiac management offices and Muriel Powell seminar room. We would like to thank the capital projects team and PFI support with the remodelling and of course all the medical, nursing and management teams who have contributed to this development.
