Patients and staff across St George’s, Epsom and St Helier Hospitals are set to benefit from a new groupwide electronic patient record system.

The new system, iClipPro, integrates multiple IT systems used across the Trusts’ sites into one, giving staff a complete overview of a person’s care in real time.

iClipPro was officially ‘switched on’ on Friday 9 May.

Jacqueline Totterdell, Group Chief Executive Officer for St George’s Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals, said: “Today marks a significant and exciting moment for gesh, with the launch of a group-wide electronic patient record system. iClipPro will make a real difference for our staff and patients – keeping data secure, reducing delays and supporting clinicians by providing comprehensive access to the information they need.”

New kit and software will also help speed up observations, monitoring, and prescribing, freeing up more time for patient care and meaning fewer delays.

While Epsom and St Helier will transfer over to the new platform, the current iClip system at St George’s will be updated, so all hospitals will be using the same system.

Using one system for over 17,000 staff across multiple sites will streamline admin tasks and minimise duplication.

The launch follows years of detailed planning, which included the secure migration of patient information from a number of historic IT systems and paper records into the one single system now in use.

This has included the installation of new technology and devices across multiple sites, the safe transfer of patient data from old systems to new, and a comprehensive launch plan including ‘on-the-floor’ support for staff and regular communications with patients and the public.
