Local councillors representing people across South West London and Surrey recently got the chance to visit St George’s and hear more about our children’s cancer services.  NHS England are running a consultation on the future location of children’s cancer services across south London and much of south east England.

Our Group Chief Executive Officer, Jacqueline Totterdell and clinical colleagues also spoke at the Joint Surrey and SWL Health Overview and Scrutiny Sub Committee, which can be viewed here. The Committee also heard from the Evelina and NHS England. Much of the questions and discussion was on the impact on staff and local services if NHS England decided to move children’s cancer services away from St George’s.

Meanwhile, our Group Chairman, Gillian Norton and team hosted a visit from Merton Councillors Jenifer Gould and Simon McGrath. They heard about how the team has 25 years of expertise and our vision for children’s services and visited our Paediatric Intensive Care (PICU) and Pinkney Ward.

We are calling on us many people as possible to please complete the NHS England consultation on the future location of children’s cancer services. We believe Kids Deserve St Georges. Please help us keep treating unwell children with cancer at St George’s. You can find out more about why Kids Deserve St Georges on our website page.
