A huge congratulations to our cardiac theatres team for achieving gold in its first ever ward accreditation scheme!

Stephanie Sweeney, Divisional Director of Nursing  for Surgery, Neurosciences, Theatres and Cancer, said: “Achieving gold in the accreditation scheme is a fantastic achievement, so a big congratulations to Jacqui, Ewa, Sandra and all the team. A gold accreditation means that an area is performing extremely well and exceeding expectations. The cardiac theatres team have worked very hard and every member of the MDT have helped us to achieve this status and we are extremely proud as a division of everyone.”

Avey Bhatia, Chief Nursing Officer and Director of Infection Prevention and Control, said: “Since its introduction in 2017 our ward accreditation programme has helped to raise standards and foster a healthy sense of competition between teams. Our inspections assess a range of topics, from medicines management to safeguarding, all of which contribute to better patient care and clinical safety.

“Securing gold is a wonderful achievement, and I’d like to congratulate all of our teams that have worked so hard to make all possible improvements in their areas.”

“We are always looking at ways to improve and how we can do better which is why we have been reviewing other St George’s theatre ward inspections reports. This has helped us to put together a plan for ourselves.”

“The team shows passion to make a difference every day – it really is a fantastic team to be part of!”
