Chief Nurse Issues 14-Day Flu Warning
With hospitalisations from flu continuing to surge, south west London’s most senior nurse has issued a plea to help keep people well over Christmas.
Group Chief Nursing Officer Elaine Clancy said:
“No one wants festive flu – the vaccine takes up to 14 days to fully kick in, so if you get your jab today you’ll be giving yourself the best chance of protection against serious illness, hospitalisation and even death over Christmas.
“If visiting hospital, you may want to consider wearing a face mask – and do not visit if you have flu or cold symptoms. Please also wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.”
