Thursday 24th February was a very special day for a patient on Gordon Smith Ward at St George’s.. Ben Logan has been a patient on the ward for the past four weeks, and thanks to the support of St George’s staff, he was able to tie the knot with  the love of his life Hanna Assouline

Ben and Hanna met in August 2020 on a popular dating app. After their first date, they went on a date every day after for a week and couldn’t wait to introduce each other to their friends and family.

Hanna said she was thrilled to have met someone who loved life as much as she did, and even her puppy Chanel approved of morning snuggles in bed with Ben on Sundays.

Around a year ago to date, Ben was diagnosed with terminal Renal Cell Cancer. He has shown strength and determination to return to health throughout his battle, and staff on the ward were keen to do everything they could to arrange the wedding ceremony for Ben and Hanna.

Hanna said in her vow’s:

‘It took me 10 years to find you, and I’d give those 10 years away in an instant to spend another second with you’.

Ben shared in his:

‘You’re a woman who has proved she can stand by me through the good times and the bad times, and I’m not done with the good times just yet’

‘I love you and feel blessed you’re my partner in this journey’.

Staff on Gordon Smith ward were incredibly touched by the ceremony  and felt very grateful to be with the couple on their special day. Well done to all our staff for helping to make the wedding happen, and we wish all our best to the happy couple.
