Pelican Hotel & Residence announced as headline sponsor

Our biggest-ever staff awards will return this December to celebrate the best of our hospital Group – thanks to major sponsor Pelican Hotel and Residence, which is part of the Yellow Brick Group.

The gesh CARE Awards celebrate outstanding care, highlight staff achievements, and recognise the dedication of more than 17,000 people across St George’s, Epsom, St Helier, and Queen Mary’s hospitals and community services. Every staff member is eligible for nomination – from those on the clinical frontline, to our essential support colleagues like porters, cleaners and volunteers.

Johnathon Kol-Bar, CEO and Chairman of the Yellow Brick Group, said: “At Pelican Hotel and Residence, we are honoured to once again be the headline supporters of the gesh CARE Awards 2025. As part of the St George’s community, we feel a deep responsibility to show our appreciation to the extraordinary NHS staff. Their dedication, compassion and resilience inspire us every day.

“These awards are particularly close to my heart. The kindness and respect shown to my late mother as an evacuee during the Second World War are the same values I see reflected in the care given across our hospitals. It is a privilege to support these awards in her memory, and I look forward to celebrating the remarkable stories and achievements of NHS staff once again this December.”

Whilst most categories are nominated by colleagues, we are urging the public to get behind our staff and nominate them for an Outstanding CARE Award. It’s a chance to celebrate staff and teams who have gone above and beyond to provide outstanding care.

Last year, 13-year-old Neriya-May Hall took to the stage alongside Myleene Klass to share her experience of living with Sickle Cell Disease.

She spoke about the pioneering use of ultrasound to guide transfusion needles into her veins- a technique that halves the time needed for her treatment.

Neriya thanked the incredible team she sees every four to five weeks, saying “They help me to stay well, and not get sick. Everyone is so nice and supportive, and we know a lot of people here now.”

Her standout memory of the awards was seeing NHS staff member Michaela recognised “not just for what she did for me, but for all patients.”

Like Neriya, you can nominate a staff member or team for the Outstanding CARE Award are open until 3 October. To nominate an NHS staff member or team, visit Outstanding CARE award 2025

Thanks to the generous support of Pelican Hotel and Residence and our other sponsors, not a penny of NHS money will be spent on the awards, and we are looking forward to hosting an unforgettable evening that truly celebrates the people who make a difference across our hospitals and communities.
