St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, in partnership with Moorfields Eye Hospital, is very proud to provide a range of outpatient and diagnostic services at The Nelson Health Centre on behalf of Merton Clinical Commissioning Group.

This spacious and modern facility, which opened in April 2015, aims to bring care closer to home for Merton residents and in turn, reduce visits to hospital.

Outpatient services:

  • trauma and orthopaedics
  • urology
  • cardiology
  • dermatology
  • rheumatology
  • general surgery, including colorectal and upper gastrointestinal
  • gynaecology
  • plastic surgery
  • gastroenterology
  • chest medicine
  • renal medicine
  • ophthalmology by Moorfields

Diagnostic services:

  • x-ray (for patients over the age of 16 only)
  • ultrasound
  • endoscopy
  • cardiac tests such as echo and ECG
  • phlebotomy

Please note this is not a walk-in centre. You must have an appointment to be seen.

How to Refer:

Patients living in Merton can request for their GP to refer them to the Nelson Health Centre for services provided by St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

GPs and clinicians can refer patients using the Nelson Health Centre Outpatient GP / GDP referral form.

Travel information

By train

Wimbledon Chase train station is a 5 minute walk from the centre. Walk east on Kingston Road (the A238) for 0.2 miles.

By tram

The Merton Park Tram Link stop is a 10 minute walk from the centre. Walk northwest towards Kingston Road (the A238) and turn left onto Kingston Road (the A238) for 0.5 miles.

By bus

The Nelson Health Centre is easily accessible by bus from Wimbledon, Sutton, Morden, Tooting and Mitcham. The 152, 163, 164, K5 buses stop directly outside The Nelson Health Centre. Full public transport travel information is available at www.tfl.gov.uk

By car

Please note there is limited parking on site and that car parking charges apply and these rates are the same as those charged by Merton Council for other pay and display parking in the area. There is no car drop off point at the front of the building. The entrance to the car park is from Kingston Road. There are electric charging points for electric cars. Blue Badge parking bays are next to the rear entrance to the building.

By bike

Cycle racks are available at both the front and rear of the centre.
