A new online course to educate healthcare professionals about organ donation has been co-created by Professor Hannah Cock following her experience of her son, Alfie, being an organ donor in 2016 aged nine.
Jeremy Hunt, MP and Secretary of State for Health, visited St George’s as one of the leading Trusts for organ donation in the UK ahead of the consultation announcement on presumed consent for organ donation.
Professor Hannah Cock, Consultant Neurologist at St George’s, and husband Martin Scott said that being able to donate Alfie’s organs brought them ‘great comfort and pride’.
This year’s event takes place on Saturday 1 July to thank, pay tribute to and remember the many people who have donated life-saving organs and tissues over the last year.
Ian Trenholm, chief executive for NHS Blood and Transplant paid St George’s a visit last month. He was here to meet our organ donation team and congratulate them on another successful year.
