Baby Friendly Initiative

The Baby-friendly Hospital Initiative was launched by WHO and UNICEF in 1991. The initiative is a global effort to implement practices that protect, promote and support breastfeeding.
In December 2018 St Georges Neonatal Unit was awarded Stage 2 accreditation of the UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative Standards
In 2019 our unit was awarded full Level 3 accreditation as Baby Friendly by UNICEF
