He specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of neurovascular disorders of the brain and spine. This includes aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), dural arteriovenous fistulae (dAVFs), vasospasm following subarachnoid haemorrhage and acute ischaemic stroke (mechanical thrombectomy).
He has expertise in all aspects of adult diagnostic neuroradiology but specific diagnostic interests include neurovascular disease and dementia.
Professional profile
Dr Madigan attained a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Otago in New Zealand before training in medicine and qualifying with an MB ChB in 2001. He moved to London in 2003 where he trained in clinical radiology at St George's Hospital, gaining Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists in 2007. Between 2008 and 2010 he undertook a fellowship in diagnostic neuroradiology and neurointervention at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Sqaure. He was appointed as a Consultant Neuroradiologist at St George's Hospital and Honorary Senior Lecturer at St George's Medical School in the Stroke and Dementia Research Centre in May 2010.
Memberships & Affiliations
Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists, London
British Society of Neuroradiologists

Academic Interests
Dr Madigan's research interests include cerebral small vessel disease, cerebral perfusion imaging, subarachnoid haemorrhage, vasospasm and advanced imaging and treatment of hyperacute ischaemic stroke.
He is Chief Investigator for the DASH trial (Donepezil in Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Haemorrhage). Link: https://www.clinicaltrialsregister.eu/ctr-search/trial/2013-002457-30/GB
