YOUNG INPATIENTS AT ST GEORGE’S received a generous donation of gifts from Wimbledon Celtic Supporters club this week.

The club, which meets at the Jack Beards pub on Mitcham Road, Tooting, donated over £800 worth of presents to children on the paediatric wards at St George’s. The gifts range from traditional board games like Kerplunk and Snakes and Ladders to more contemporary items like DVDs. All age ranges are catered for, including mobiles and hand puppets for the younger patients and a Nintendo Wii, which will be enjoyed by any teenage patients who want to play it.

Chris Gauntlett from Wimbledon Celtic Supporters Club said, “We’re hugely proud of our local community and we wanted to support a local cause. Giving presents to children in hospital seemed like such a genuine way of giving something back to our local community.”

Linda Falzarano, Playroom Co-ordinator at St George’s who received the presents on behalf of St George’s said “We’re thrilled with this really generous donation, and particularly that our patients will go on enjoying these gifts long after the festive season has passed.”
