Earlier this week (Monday 9 October), St George’s hosted Dr Mario Brkaric, a renowned spinal surgeon and expert in 3D printed intervertebral cages for the spine.

Dr Brkaric travelled from Indianna to visit St George’s and meet with our team of surgeons.

Dr Brkaric is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and practices at the Indianna Spine Centre. He has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and is an expert in the fields of deformity, degenerative conditions, spinal trauma, and minimally invasive technology.

Surgeons at St George’s use Dr Brkaric’s design for intervertebral cages as well as intra operative navigation in Scoliosis surgery, a technique that uses equipment to guide surgery around the spine to avoid injury to the spinal cord.
