St George’s sweeps up at London Garden Society hospital awards
The London Garden Society awards hospital category has three sections: large gardens, small garden and window box or container display. St George’s entered all three, winning gold and the competition trophy for the the Walk on the Wild side Courtyard. This courtyard recently went under a full overhaul of its planting with a grant from the St George’s Hospital Charity funding the makeover.
The grounds team also won gold for the window box and container displays, and silver for the reflection garden outside AMW, which was also funded during Covid by the St George’s Hospital Charity.
Head Gardner John Greco said, “It is a great achievement for the grounds team to receive recognition for all our planning and hard work each year. We get so many compliments on our gardens each year and hear how valuable they are to our staff, visitors, and patients is wonderful.
“I am so appreciative of the support we receive from the charity. Huge thanks especially to all the donors who help to keep the standard we have here at St George’s.”
