At 4.10pm on Monday, 5 April, Vicky Morrison, Divisional Director of Nursing for Surgery, Theatres, Neurosciences and Cancer services at St George’s, will appear with her family in the long-running show Our Family.

The series – a pre-school documentary following the lives of young children and their families – shows Vicky and wife Jennie going about their daily lives, but the stars of the show are definitely daughter Sophie, 4, and son Henry, 6.

Vicky, who has worked at St George’s for 14 years, said:

“We are all really excited, and we’ve had such a lovely response from friends and family. Like anyone, I am really proud of our little family, and this was why we took part in the series.

“We are also the first same-sex couple to appear in the series, which was one of our main motivations for taking part – and that feels like a real honour.”

In addition to her role as a senior nurse at St George’s, Vicky is currently co-chair of our LGBTQ+ staff network here at the Trust.

“The show helps to celebrate diversity in many different ways. I’m a gay woman who is in a same-sex marriage – so if young kids see us in the series, and realise that we are just like any other family, then I think it can be a really positive force for good.”

Vicky, Jennie, Sophie and Henry will feature in six programmes in all, with each running for 11 minutes. The first two programmes will be broadcast on Monday 5 April and Tuesday 6 April respectively at 4.10pm. So please tune in!

Well done Vicky!
