During October St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust, will introduce advertising onto its website, helping to support the production of high quality information for patients and visitors.

The adverts will appear in a way that does not impact on the experience of website users and the trust will retain the right to decline any that it considers to be unsuitable. For example, adverts for tobacco products, alcohol, gambling and political parties will not be allowed to feature.

Jean-Pierre Moser, the trust’s director of communications, said: “With around 400,000 visits to our website each year this initiative will provide an opportunity for local businesses to reach a wider audience and at the same time enable the trust to raise additional income.

“St George’s Healthcare is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, providing care across hospital, community and specialist settings. Income raised from this initiative will be used to develop information for patients and visitors about the trust and its services.”

An independent advertising representative will be selling advertising space on behalf of the trust to both local companies and large blue chip advertisers. Advertisements will be vetted by a member of the trust’s staff before they publish online to ensure they do not breach guidelines. The trust will retain the right to decline any advertisement.
