St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, London, has appointed Alison Robertson as its new Director of Nursing and Patient Safety.

Currently Chief Nurse at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, she will join St George’s in the New Year. Alison has worked in the NHS for over 25 years and has provided strategic leadership to the nursing and midwifery profession in several NHS Trusts, including Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Trust and Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.

Chief Executive David Astley said: “We are delighted to have appointed someone of Alison’s calibre to this important post at St George’s. The Trust is gearing up for an exciting future and has some major challenges ahead as it works towards achieving Foundation Trust status. Alison is an accomplished professional with comprehensive experience gained at clinical, operational and strategic levels. We look forward to welcoming her to the Trust in January.”

Alison said: “It is a privilege to be joining the executive team at St George’s. I am absolutely committed to placing patients and their needs at the centre of the Trust’s activity and care passionately that my leadership translates into better and safer care for patients.”
