Filmed during the autumn of 2020, the RTS award-winning documentary series returns for a twenty fourth series following patients treated in the same 24-hour period at St George’s in south west London. The hospital has one of the busiest A&E departments in Britain – a place where stories of life, love and loss unfold every day.

This episode follows patients from three different generations and explores how our loved ones can be a catalyst for change.

An ambulance has rushed 39-year-old Leo into A&E after flipping his car when he lost consciousness at the wheel. Doctors are concerned about the injury sustained to his head and reason behind his blackout. Leo’s husband JR tells us the story of how they met and that some members of their family were still not ready to accept their marriage.

In paediatric A&E, 9-year-old Kieran is in with a sore wrist after falling off his skateboard. While doctors assess the damage, Kieran’s dad Neal tells us of his battle with alcohol, after an injury ended his burgeoning skateboarding career at just 17-years-old.

91-year-old Lilian is in resus after falling at home. Doctors worry she has severely broken her leg. Granddaughter Viktoria discusses how Lilian’s health has deteriorated since her husband, Viktoria’s Granddad, passed away.
