The RTS award-winning documentary series returns following patients treated in the same 24-hour period at St George’s in South West London. The hospital has one of the busiest A&E departments in Britain – a place where stories of life, love and loss unfold every day.

This episode follows the stories of three people and was filmed in 2019, before the covid-19 pandemic.

91 year old Iris arrives in resus after falling at home. With two severe leg fractures, medical staff are concerned Iris may not survive her injuries. We hear from Viktoria, Iris’s daughter, about her mum’s life during the Blitz and the touching story of her parents romance that ended in tragedy.

22 year old Elijah arrives in minors after injuring his finger in a kebab slicer. With his girlfriend Cheanna by his side, Elijah waits to discover how severe the damage to his finger is.

Meanwhile, 54 year-old Alison is rushed to A&E with sepsis, a life-threatening immune response to a chest infection. While doctors navigate Alison’s complicated medical history, loving husband Claude tells us the story of his romance with Alison and how a devastating diagnosis shattered their world.
