The RTS award-winning documentary series returns following patients treated in the same 24-hour period at St George’s in South West London. The hospital has one of the busiest A&E departments in Britain – a place where stories of life, love and loss unfold every day.

This episode follows the stories of three people dealing with the unpredictability of life and was filmed in 2019, before the covid-19 pandemic.

24-year-old Karan is rushed to St George’s by ambulance after being tackled during a football match, leaving him with fractured bones in his leg. As doctors work to establish the extent of the damage, his Dad, Naresh, explains how Karan’s work ethic and their relationship has resulted in a close bond, helping the family business become a success.

30-year-old Will has a painful swelling on his head due to an infection of his scalp. He shares the story of how his teenage life was suddenly altered after an unprovoked assault. He describes how his brain injury was life-changing but that it’s totally altered his outlook on life.

Rock-music fan Jonathan has broken his toe after dropping a wooden chopping board on his foot. His Mum, Caroline, describes how music has been Jonathan’s salvation after some challenging school years and shares how proud she is of her son.
