Local football heroes surprise children at St George’s!
Players and staff from AFC Wimbledon, including their much-loved mascot Haydon the Womble, visited St George’s yesterday to surprise some of our young patients.
They delivered gifts to patients on all of our paediatric wards.
Justine Makin, Lead Health Play Specialist at St George’s, said: “It was absolutely brilliant – all the children were so excited to see some of the squad, and of course Haydon the Womble!
“Many of our young patients will have to stay in hospital over Christmas and won’t get to spend much time with their friends and families. The visit really made them smile and feel special at what can be a very difficult time.”
