As you may be aware, the British Medical Association (BMA) has confirmed that junior doctors will be taking industrial action from 8am until 5pm on Tuesday 26th April and Wednesday 27 April.

We will need to cancel and reschedule non-urgent operations and outpatient appointments. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

However we will be providing the full range of emergency, intensive and maternity care in our hospitals on these days. This care will be provided by our consultants from all our specialities, supported by a range of medical, nursing and allied health professionals.

If you have a scheduled appointment on 26th or 27th April:

All patients affected by the cancellations will be contacted by the trust. If you aren’t contacted, your operation or appointment will go ahead as planned. If you are unsure or have any concerns, please phone the number on your hospital letter and the relevant department will be able to advise you.

Please use services wisely

As stated above, patients in need of urgent and emergency care during the industrial action will continue to receive the treatment they need.

As always, please use emergency services wisely. Where appropriate, please consider alternatives to A&E such as visiting a local GP or pharmacist calling NHS 111, or using the NHS Choices website.

We will be providing regular updates about the industrial action via Twitter.
