Hospital staff honoured for long service
TO SPEND the better part of your career with one company may strike some people as unusual.
Not so for 40 members of staff from St George’s Hospital who on Wednesday 24 November were praised for each giving more than a quarter of a century’s service to the Trust and its patients.
Every year, St George’s Hospital presents awards to staff who have worked at the Trust for 25 years.
The combined service of the 43 staff honoured on Wednesday – each of whom received a glass rose bowl in recognition of their extraordinary commitment – came to a staggering one thousand years.
Awards were given to a wide range of staff including consultants, midwives, nurses, radiographers and scientists.
Speaking at the ceremony, Naaz Coker, the chair of St George’s Hospital, paid tribute to staff by saying:
“I am always amazed by the wealth of talent and expertise that we have here at the hospital.
“Giving these awards is a wonderful tradition for the hospital and on behalf of the trust I would like to thank each and every one of the winners for their loyal service and commitment over so many years.”
Human resources director Colin Watts added his own words of thanks:
“It is astonishing when you consider all the people receiving awards tonight have dedicated nearly all their working life to this hospital.
“It is an achievement of which they and we can be rightly proud.”
