More than 200 local people attended St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust’s first member event on Wednesday 19th January entitled Nutrition in a nutshell – how to eat healthy and live longer by Catherine Collins, principal dietitian.

This was the first in a series of special member events aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles.

Catherine Collins, said: “Being able to offer advice to the public about how to eat healthily and prevent food-related problems is extremely rewarding. The audience raised some interesting questions and it was very encouraging to learn how important nutrition is to them. Most people can make simple changes to their daily diet to help ensure that they eat enough fruit and vegetables and reduce the amount of saturated fats that they consume.”

Member Giovanna Ilukkumbure from Wandsworth who attended the event said: “Healthy eating really doesn’t need to be as difficult as some people make out. Catherine’s expert tips were very helpful and to hear her reveal the truth behind some of the so-called superfoods was fascinating.”

The Nutrition in a nutshell – how to eat healthy and live longer presentation is now available on the foundation trust section of the trust’s website.
