A SPECIAL house for families of children staying at St George’s Hospital is celebrating its first anniversary of opening with a festive raffle.

Children may travel a long distance to receive specialist treatment at St George’s and Ronald McDonald House provides free accommodation in eight en suite rooms to provide a ‘home away from home’ environment for their families. The house was set up by an independent national charity, originally established by the McDonald restaurant chain, but is maintained by local fundraising. More than 110 families have stayed in it during the past year.

Raffle prizes include a weekend for two with Christmas Ball invitations at the Bloomsbury Holiday Inn, a Nokia mobile camera phone, a Harrods Hamper, child’s bicycle and many other prizes which would make lovely Christmas gifts including jewellery, games, beauty products and wine.

The draw on 13th December, the anniversary day will be attended by the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Mrs Tessa Strickland.

If you would like to take part in the raffle or to sell tickets on the charity’s behalf, please contact Ronald McDonald House Manager Jeanette Hill for details on 8226 6059.
