Dr Dominic Spray has this month taken up the role of Clinical Director for Adult Critical Care services at St George’s.

Dr Spray, a Consultant Intensivist at St George’s, takes over the role from Dr Rafik Bedair, who has been Clinical Director for the service since 2018.

In this role, Dr Spray will play a key role in the hospital’s response to the Covid-19 outbreak, together with clinical and managerial colleagues from across the Trust.

Dr Spray said: ‘’This is an exciting opportunity for me, and I am grateful to Rafik and other team members for their support.‘’

“I am so impressed with the way our staff have stepped up in response to Covid-19, and are doing everything possible to ensure we’re ready for the increase in patients we are already seeing.”

Dr Spray recorded a short video message late last month in which he talked about the changes the hospital was beginning to make in response to Covid-19. You can watch it again here.

You can also read a short interview with Dr Bedair, who in addition to his role at St George’s as a member of the intensivist team, is supporting efforts to expand ITU capacity in hospitals across south west London. Click here to view.
