Youngsters got the chance to check out nursing as a possible career during an open day at St George’s Hospital. Children got to grips with a model patient in the hospital’s simulation suite where they could check the mannequin’s pulse and heart beat while other children practised patching up teddy bears.

The popular annual event attracted more than 2,000 people and including behind-the-scene tours of areas including the CT scanning room and surgical theatres. More than 60 stalls lined the entrances to St George’s and the University Hospital providing a range of advice on everything from health eating and heart disease to TB to local history.
