To help keep patients and staff safe from Covid-19, we have been restricting visitors to our hospitals since March 2020. You can read our latest guidance on the visiting restrictions on our website here.

We know how hard this has been for patients and their relatives, and we appreciate how valued any contact from a loved one is for our patients.

To address this, we have introduced a new messaging service to help you keep in touch with loved ones in our hospitals during this difficult time.

To send a message, please complete this form and send as an attachment to messagestolovedones@stgeorges.nhs.uk. A member of staff will then print out your message and deliver it to your loved one in an envelope.

If you’d like to send a photo along with your message, we would be grateful if you could include this as a separate attachment in the same email.

Robert Bleasdale, Chief Nursing Officer and Director of Infection Prevention and Control, said: “For any patient, receiving a message from a loved one can help to brighten their day and improve their emotional wellbeing. Keeping in touch is more important than ever, so we’re really pleased to introduce this new way of communicating.

“We of course look forward to the day when we can lift restrictions for visitors, but in the meantime, we hope that this service will be a welcome addition for the friends and family of our patients.”

This new initiative is one of many ways relatives can stay in touch with their loved ones. Our staff are encouraging patients to communicate with relatives and friends by mobile phone and iPad, and patients can also use our free Wi-Fi service for using Skype, FaceTime and other services.
