Like hospitals across the country, we’ve been bowled over by the support shown to our staff by patients, the public, and local partners and businesses during this period.

We’ve had so many donations – particularly food, and while we are so grateful for these kind offers, it is getting more difficult for us to accept perishable items.

How you can help

Working with St George’s Hospital Charity, we have now set up the St George’s Hospital Coronavirus Thank You Appeal –  https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/thankyouappeal

By donating, you will be supporting our staff who are working around the clock to treat patients with Coronavirus.

Funds raised will be used to provide accommodation for key staff, buy equipment and supplies, plus fund mental health support and welfare initiatives now and over the coming weeks and months.

Jacqueline Totterdell, Chief Executive of St George’s, said:

“I would like to say a huge thank you to the public for the amazing support they have shown our staff – by donating food or sending messages of gratitude. The coming weeks will be incredibly challenging for our front line staff as they care for an increasing number of patients with Coronavirus. The money raised by donating to this thank you appeal will help provide support to our staff at a difficult time, in an organised way.”

Amerjit Chohan, Chief Executive of St George’s Hospital Charity, said:

“Thank you to everyone who has already donated to our appeal and reached out with incredible offers of support for our staff. We have been completely overwhelmed by the generosity of our local community and beyond. St George’s Hospital Charity is committed to supporting staff through this challenging time and all money raised will go directly towards funding and supporting NHS staff in their roles.”

Other donations

In light of new government guidance on non-essential travel, we would ask that members of the public do not come to our hospitals with donations without contacting us first.

If you would still like to donate any non-perishable items, and can do so safely, please contact us first to arrange delivery so that we can make sure nothing goes to waste. You can do this by emailing giving@stgeorges.nhs.uk or calling  0208 725 4522 or 07769312840 between 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday only.

We have also been contacted by many people wanting to volunteer their time or skills. This is fantastic, but we need a bit more time to co-ordinate how we can make best use of this kind and generous offer. So please bear with us!
