New episode of 24 Hours in A&E: The Show Must Go On…
The RTS award-winning documentary series returns for a twenty-second series following patients treated in the same 24-hour period at St George’s in south west London. The hospital has one of the busiest A&E departments in Britain – a place where stories of life, love and loss unfold every day.
This episode follows the stories of three people who experienced incredible adventures when they were younger and how they have subsequently had to adjust when life throws them off track.
74-year-old Barbara is rushed into St George’s with a dangerously high heart rate after she became dizzy whilst out shopping. As doctors work to bring down her heart rate, we hear from her daughter Ana about her mum and dad’s phenomenal success in the jazz world and how that all cruelly changed when her mum was diagnosed with Parkinson’s.
John is brought into hospital having woken up unable to move his right leg. Doctors are concerned he may have suffered a stroke. As John begins to recover we learn of his glamorous life on the airlines in the 60s, a lifestyle that could never last forever.
Suzy is in urgent care after her dog bit her on the hand following an altercation with another dog. As an Emergency Nurse Practitioner treats her wound, Suzy tells us in interview of a lonely childhood and the trip she took as a young adult from which she gained fame and confidence.
