Hi Hazel

The only issue’s that came up out of the norm for me were;

1.     Non exec director in the ED for over 8 hours waiting for a surgical bed. If there are any VIPs in the department, this needs to be escalated to the GM on-call and a bed found in another area.

2.     We ran out of PICU beds on Tuesday and haven’t had any since. Nationally PICU was tight so we could not treat and transfer. The only option is to make an adult ITU bed into a PICU bed and this needs to be done in liaison with the ICU on-call team.

3.     Identification of patients that can move into escalation  areas – this needs to be done in the day and the HoN from that area with an email to the site team and GM on-call with patients names that can move. This prevents breaches later on in the day.

Hope this helps

Thanks

Sofia

Dear Sofia and Vikki

Following on from the on-call training in October 2011 where it was requested that record/log of events during on-call were proactively sought to aid the learning of others and to be kept together, please could you forward me the record/log of your week on-call recently by return or upload a copy into L:\Files\Oncall Managers and Directors\On-call Log\On Call Weekly Log Reports

If it is not on system, please copy it for me and I will pick it up and scan it in.

Sue - I am assuming that your records will be in the CSW managers log book in the on-call bag.  Thanks for the note about the book status!

John-Jo, Stephen, Gai, Katie and Sarah  - I will be making the same request of you at the end of your on-call.  (Sarah- I am assuming that your records will be in the CSW managers log book in the on-call bag.  When the book is becoming full, please let me know and I will source you a replacement.).

Many thanks for your time and help,

Kind regards

Hazel
