Mr Kim is dual-qualified in Medicine (Edinburgh University) and Dentistry (Birmingham University). He subsequently trained at Edinburgh, Cambridge and Birmingham teaching hospitals. He completed an Advanced Fellowship in Head and Neck Oncology at the Toronto General Hospital and the Mount Sinai Hospitals, and gained additional training in minimally-invasive ‘key-hole’ thyroid and parathyroid surgery (under Professor David Terris (USA) and Professor Paulo Miccoli (Italy) and robotic surgery (under Prof. Chung & Prof. Koh (Seoul/Korea)).
Mr Kim is an academic surgeon and his current research is based at the Institute of Cancer Research (London) and Royal Marsden Hospital where he is studying immunotherapy of thyroid and head and neck cancers and use of circulating DNA as a ‘liquid biopsy’ in thyroid cancer. He is a member of the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) and Specialist Advisor for the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
