Dr Cloud is a consultant stroke physician. He has a clinical interest in stroke prevention, acute stroke treatment, and the recovery and rehabilitation of stroke patients.
Dr Cloud qualified from the medical college of St Bartholomew's Hospital, London and trained in general, geriatric and stroke medicine in London before being appointed a consultant stroke physician and honorary senior lecturer in the department of clinical neurosciences at St George's Hospital in March 2004.
Dr Cloud is involved in delivering acute stroke care within the trust and is also the clinical lead for neurorehabilitation within the trust.
In August 2008, he was appointed the clinical lead for the south west London stroke clinical network, and in this capacity has been part of the clinical expert panel informing and implementing the London stroke strategy.
Since 2009, Dr Cloud has been Associate Director at the Royal College of Physicians of London stroke programme, overseeing the publication of national clinical guidelines for stroke and the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme (SSNAP).
His published research interests include posterior circulation stroke, novel interventions to improve motor recovery after stroke and understanding the needs of stroke carers. Dr Cloud co-authored with his St George's colleagues the Handbook of Stroke, published by Oxford University Press (2010).
