Earlier this month, three St George’s consultants were named in the prestigious Evening Standard Progress 1000 list. The list is made up of the top 1000 most influential people in London, so it is a a huge achievement for three St George’s members of staff to be recognised.

Our consultants included Mr Zahid Mukhtar, Consultant Paediatric Surgeon; Dr Ruchi Kabra, Consultant Interventional Neuroradiologist and Professor Asma Khalil, Consultant Obstetrician. They were all listed following stories featuring their work in the Evening Standard over the last year.

Mr Zahid Mukhtar helped to save baby Abi Peters who was born four months prematurely and is believed to be the world’s youngest ever patient to survive major abdominal surgery. As reported in the Evening Standard here.

Dr Ruchi Kabra – the only female Consultant Interventional Neuroradiologist in London – saved the life of 44 year old Nichola Randall when she came to St George’s for a mechanical thrombectomy following having a stroke at home. As reported in the Evening Standard here.

Professor Asma Khalil delivered the first set of quadruplets at St George’s in 13 years in June. She also developed an app for pregnant women with high blood pressure to monitor their condition at home. As reported in the Evening Standard here and here.
