The Trust’s Annual Members’ Meeting takes place on Thursday 26 September 2019 at St George’s Hospital, with all welcome to attend.

From 5pm, our teams will be providing free health checks for attendees, including blood sugar and blood pressure tests, as well as giving out health information and tips.

We will also be hosting a virtual reality experience from Rescape, who are currently trialing the technology at St George’s. Using VR during medical procedures has been found to reduce anxiety for patients.

The meeting will take place in Monckton Lecture Theatre from 6.30pm, where you can hear about the progress we made in 2018/19 and hear from special guest Philip Sherriff.

Philip is the dad of baby Lacey, whose life was saved at St George’s when she was just 5-days-old. During surgery, Lacey had a cardiac arrest and her heart stopped beating for 12 minutes, due to excessive bleeding, before doctors managed to stabilise her. The team, however, feared the worst when their efforts to resuscitate her during a second 10 minute arrest proved challenging.

Philip and Lacey’s mum Louise started to prepare themselves to say goodbye, but Lacey thankfully pulled herself through. Thanks to the support of our teams, Lacey was eventually able to return home and is now happy and healthy and approaching her second birthday.

Philip will joined by Dr Donovan Duffy, Neonatal Consultant, who was part of the team that cared for Lacey.

As well as hearing from Philip, the Annual Members’ Meeting is an opportunity to:

  • Hear about the progress the Trust made in 2018/19, and our plans for the future
  • Meet our Governors
  • Put questions to members of the Trust Board.
