Job Title: Chief Examiner Penultimate Year MBBS

Salary: Equivalent to Consultant, GP, Senior Lecturer or Lecturer, plus London Allowance, per annum

Post Type: Fixed Term Part time, 0.1 FTE for 3 years, renewable once

The MBBS team is looking for an exceptional clinician with experience in medical education and assessment. The post holder will have responsibility for the delivery and oversight of all assessments for Penultimate (P) Year medical students. It is an excellent opportunity to be involved formally in the assessment of future colleagues and work with a committed clinical, academic and administrative assessment team.

Key attributes of the successful applicant include:

  • Experience as a clinician to at least SpR/Clinical Lecturer level (current or recent)
  • Proven record in medical education (appropriate training and support will be provided)
  • Accurate worker, high attention to detail and high level of organisation
  • Passion for delivering high quality assessment

  • Excellent communication skills with colleagues and students
  • Enthusiasm and personal initiative to solve problems

Appointment

The appointee could be a Clinical Academic, Senior Lecturer or Lecturer who has a good understanding of the MBBS P Year assessments and an in-depth knowledge of the Scheme of Assessment. The Chief Examiner will work closely with the P Year Lead, Responsible Examiners for Clinical Competency Assessment, Responsible Examiner for the YSKT, the Head of Assessment, the module and theme leads, and the Exams team.
