Dyspnoea or Shortness of Breath

- Is it a new symptom?
- Is dyspnoea worsening?
- Is there any chest pain? – see specific information
- What can the patient do? Is there any alteration in performance status?
- Consider SVCO / Anaemia / Pulmonary Embolism / Pneumonitis etc.
Grade 1 (Green)
None or no change from normal.
Advice
Breathing should be monitored closely by the patient. If it worsens then they should contact the advice line without delay:

Grade 2 (Amber)
New onset shortness of breath with moderate exertion.
