Children’s Surgery
On this page:
The St George’s department of paediatric surgery and urology is renowned for its expertise in minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery in neonates and young children. We are also one of the sixteen paediatric major trauma centres (MTCs) in the UK and have the benefit of being co-located with adult services. The department consists of eight consultant paediatric surgeons, two consultant urologists, seven surgical registrars, two junior doctors, a physician associate and surgical clinical nurse specialists.
We have an international reputation for our paediatric oncological surgery and attract referrals from throughout the UK and Europe. We provide expertise in the management of anorectal malformations, Hirschsprung’s disease, thoracic conditions and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease. Our paediatric urology department offers a complete specialist service for congenital kidney, bladder and penile conditions and spina bifida.
We pride ourselves in delivering quality care close to home and thus have created a network of interlinked partnerships with local district general hospitals in South West London. We provide both surgery and/or clinics in Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton, Kingston University Hospital, St Peter’s Foundation Trust in Chertsey, Croydon University Hospital, Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford and Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals.
