Where are the clinics held?

We provide appointments at, St John’s Therapy Centre, Battersea, Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton, and St George’s Hospital, Tooting. Please see our welcome page for exact locations.

During your appointment

Please arrive 10 minutes before your appointment. You should allow between 45 minutes – 1 hour depending on the reason for referral and 30 minutes for a follow up.

You’ll be seen by a member of our pelvic health physiotherapy team.

In your first session we will ask you questions about your symptoms. You will also be asked about your past medical history, medications and social history as this information may be important to the management of your problem.

Assessments that may be included in your appointment (depending on your symptoms):

  • Musculoskeletal tests, looking at range of movement, function and strength
  • Internal vaginal examinations, to assess the power and endurance of your pelvic floor muscles
  • Anorectal examinations, to assess the power and endurance of the muscles in your bottom

You’ll be told exactly what is going to be done and what to expect.

As this is a teaching hospital, students supervised by qualified staff might be involved in your care. It is valuable training for students and does not affect the quality of your treatment, but please tell us if you do not want students to be present or involved. We will always respect your wishes.
