Gynaecology Same Day Emergency Care
What is the Gynaecology SDEC Pathway?
If you require emergency care from our Gynaecology team you may be referred to the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Pathway. This means you will be seen by our specialist Gynaecology team in the Acute Gynaecology Unit instead of waiting in the Emergency Department. You will be seen on the same day, or the next day if it is better for you to go home and return tomorrow. The purpose of the SDEC pathway is to avoid delays and provide faster treatment.
If you cannot attend your scheduled SDEC appointment, please call the Acute Gynaecology Unit on 020 8725 1762 as soon as possible.
Who can attend / receive the service?
You must be referred to the SDEC pathway by a doctor, nurse, midwife or 111. Please do not attend without having been referred. If you have been an inpatient at St George’s, we may arrange for you to come to SDEC for a follow-up appointment.
Where do I need to go?
Please go to St George’s Hospital, Blackshaw Road, Tooting SW17 0QT. Follow the signs to the Acute Gynaecology Unit, Ground Floor, Lanesborough Wing.
When you arrive, please tell the nurse that you have been referred to the SDEC pathway. Please do not arrive early for your appointment as waiting room space is limited.
Does it cost anything?
If you are eligible for free NHS treatment, it will not cost anything.
What do I need to bring with me?
If you are being seen due to a pregnancy-related issue please bring your antenatal notes and any ultrasound scans you have.
