The audiology & audiovestibular medicine teams are actively involved in teaching and training the future generation of clinical staff.
Our medical consultants have strong links with the associated medical school. Being a University Teaching Hospital, we have medical students who regularly attend to gain exclusive insight and training in an area of medicine not often taught at undergraduate level. Postgraduate level medical training is provided for the Foundation level trainees and Specialist Trainees in Audiovestibular Medicine, with the department receiving consistently high praise on the quality and exposure.
The department, in conjuction with the UCL Ear Institute, has established only one of the few courses in paediatric dizziness. The department and its staff are also actively involved in running and teaching other courses in vestibular assessment and management at the Ear Institute.
The department has close links with audiology undergraduate and postgraduate training programmes and our staff are leaders in teaching and training both in audiology and vestibular sciences.
The department is active in Audiology, Audiovestibular and Neuro-otology clinical research, with work being presented by our staff at national and international level.
Honours:
- Audiology Dept is accredited to provide training for student audiologists in audiology.
- Dhaval Mehta, Advanced Audiologist, was awarded national audiologist of the year 2013 by the British Academy of Audiology for providing excellent patient care.
- The St George’s Hospital service was also awarded a service excellence award in 2004 by St George’s NHS Trust.
