Clinical interests
Mr Adlard is a consultant plastic surgeon who specialises in hand trauma, skin cancers, aesthetic and general plastic surgery.
Within hand surgery, his specialist interests are in:
- Nerve injury and compression syndromes (eg Carpal Tunnel Syndrome)
- Dupuytren’s disease
- Complex Reconstructive hand surgery including nerve and tendon transfers
- Rheumatoid Arthritis
Professional profile
Mr Adlard qualified from The London Hospital Medical College in 1996 and completed his plastic surgery training on the pan Thames Plastic Surgery training Rotation. He has trained at many prestigious Plastic Surgery Units including Stoke Mandeville Hospital, St Thomas’ Hospital, Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead and The Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford.
In 2004 he completed an MSc in Surgical Sciences at University College London with specialist modules in Peripheral nerve regeneration, hand anatomy variations and completed research into wound healing at the world leading Centre for Cell Biology and Cutaneous Research at Queen Mary and Westfield University.
In 2012 he spent 18 months on a fellowship in Melbourne, Australia, specialising in Hand surgery and skin cancer and a further fellowship for 6 months in 2014 at Salisbury District Hospital and Odstock Burns Unit.
He was appointed as a consultant plastic surgeon at St George Hospital in 2015, where he is a keen educator involved in both University and A-Level work experience programs. He has many peer reviewed published papers, national and international presentations and appeared in the national press and television for his efforts in reconstructive trauma surgery.
