Dr Sandeep Shetty is a Consultant Neonatologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at St George’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and St George’s, University of London. He is the Neonatal Quality Lead for South-West Maternity and Neonatal Services.

After completing undergraduate and structured postgraduate Paediatric training at Rajiv Gandhi University, India, he undertook neonatal training at King’s College Hospital and St George’s University Hospitals, London. He received an MD research degree in ‘Optimisation of Neonatal Ventilation’ at King’s College London in 2016.

Dr Shetty has a special interest in neonatal ventilation optimization and a passion for teaching. He has a number of publications in peer-reviewed journals and has been an invited speaker for the British Association of Perinatal Medicine (BAPM) national conference. His current research interests include novel respiratory support modes of ventilation with a focus on Neurally Adjusted Ventilatory Assist (NAVA). He introduced NAVA at St George’s neonatal unit, which is the only UK neonatal unit to offer NAVA as part of clinical care. He is a member of BAPM and the Neonatal Society. He is the faculty lead for the popular Neonatal Ventilation Course held in Cambridge.
