HIV services to stay at St George’s – information for patients

From 1 October 2017, responsibility for the running of Wandsworth Integrated Sexual Health Services (not including services for patients with HIV) will transfer to Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH). Services for patients with HIV will continue to be provided by St George’s. More information about this below.
Information for patients – week commencing 18 September (penultimate week of service)
POINT Young Persons Clinics will be open as usual at all sites (Roehampton Clinic at Queen Mary’s, the Courtyard Clinic at ST George’s and Doddington Health Centre in Battersea). There will be no other clinics running at either Roehampton or Doddington this week.
The specialist booked appointment clinic for coils and implants will run at Tooting Health Centre on Wednesday 20 September.
Clinics at the Courtyard Clinic will continue to run as usual during this week.
Information for patients – week commencing 25 September (final week of service)
There will be a POINT Young Persons Clinic at Roehampton Clinic at Queen Mary’s, on Monday 25 September and at the Courtyard Clinic on Wednesday 27 September.
Please note there will be no POINT Clinic at Doddington Health Centre, Battersea on Thursday 28 September.
The Gay Mens Clinic on Monday 25 September will run as normal.
Please note there will be no other walk in services at the Courtyard Clinic during this week.
If you already have an appointment for one of our specialist clinics (such as psychosexual, coil fitting etc) please attend as usual as these clinics will continue to run.

There are reports in the media this week about the future of Wandsworth Integrated Sexual Health Services, plus services for patients with HIV, both of which are currently run by St George’s.
Transfer of services to Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust
From 1 October 2017, responsibility for the running of Wandsworth Integrated Health Services (which don’t include services for patients with HIV) will transfer to Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH), another NHS provider.
Services for patients with HIV will continue to be provided at St George’s as they are currently from 1 October (see separate section below).
The services that will be run by CLCH from 1 October include free and confidential testing for sexually transmitted infections, contraception services, referral for termination of pregnancy, HIV post sexual exposure treatment (PEP), C-card registration and free condoms.
St George’s will continue to deliver these services until the end of September, and patients should continue to use our services as they do currently until then. From 1 October, CLCH will provide these services, which will remain free and confidential for patients.
We are working with CLCH to ensure a smooth transition of services, for the benefit of existing and future patients, as well as the staff who work in the service. The services will be provided out of new locations, which will be confirmed by CLCH in the near future.
Services for HIV patients to remain at St George’s
The only service being retained at St George’s from 1 October is specialist outpatient and inpatient care for patients with HIV.
This will continue to be provided as it is currently – however, all testing for HIV, as well as access to HIV post sexual exposure treatment (PEP), will transfer to CLCH as part of the integrated sexual health services.
